Summer has almost come to an end and SMART Brain Aging wanted to share a recap of our amazing summer! From opening an additional location to Dr. DenBoer traveling to China, SMART had a successful last few months. Now we are looking forward to keeping the momentum going into fall!
We are proud to announce the opening of the Arizona Dementia Center. The center opened in August and features the SMART Brain Program. Located at 8130 E. Cactus Rd, Ste 520, Scottsdale, Arizona 85260, the Arizona Dementia Center offers a multidisciplinary treatment approach featuring neurology, neuropsychology, speech language therapy, clinical social work, and occupational therapy focused on delaying the onset of Dementia.
“We are thrilled to open the Arizona Dementia Center and have these vital services offered to the community,” Dr. DenBoer said. “Dementia is a disease which is not given enough attention, especially considering that it affects 1 in 10 people age 65 or older. Our goal is to help societies understand that dementia is not a natural part of aging and give individuals an opportunity to take action to reduce the impact of the disease.”
Dr. Denboer Visits China
At the beginning of the summer, Dr. DenBoer had the honor of traveling to China on behalf of SMART. Here is a small recap from his trip. You can view the full recap on our blog!
“I recently was on a trip to China on behalf of SMART Brain Aging. The purpose of this email is to recap the trip and provide a vision of how SBA can impact aging individuals across the globe (with a specific emphasis on China).
China’s population dynamics, particularly as they relate to aging and dementia, are staggering.
Home to some 1.4 Billion people, there are four major cities that are in the world’s top 10 in terms of population (including Beijing and Shanghai, which are almost 25 million each!).
Given their 1 child only policy, China’s population is very “top-heavy,” with the majority above 50 and many above 65. As longevity of life significantly improves for aging Chinese, many more are developing dementia. These rates are increased by increased heart health problems, including pollution and smoking.
We will be working with a local colleague who is forming a healthcare delegation to Shanghai and presenting Brain U Online for consideration for the Chinese Ministry of Health. This presents a tremendous opportunity to help millions.”
Our New App!
SMART Brain Again is known for our online and in-person memory clinics. But now we have gone mobile! We are proud to have launched a new app over the summer to help mitigate the early state of dementia. This new app is a convenient way to your work brain and is extremely beneficial if used right after physical exercise. In fact, after years of research, it has been proven to delay the progression for up to 2.5 years and reduce negative cognitive impact by 45 percent.
The app focuses on the following:
- Processing speed
- Executive functioning
The app is currently available for iOS devices, but we are hoping to launch an app for Androids soon.
Download the app today!
